Penny Ashton - Director

NFOPP Technical Award in Residential Letting & Property Management

Penny is the founder of Penny Ashton Property Management Ltd and has planned and undertaken the development of the company over the last twenty-six years. She remains heavily involved in the business and has overall responsibility for all areas. She has an energetic approach, which is coupled with a high level of integrity ensuring Penny Ashton has become the No 1 lettings agency in Manchester.

In her spare time Penny enjoys keeping fit, travelling and increasing her portfolio of investment properties.

John-Paul Case LL.B (Hons), MNAEA, MARLA - Manager

After graduating in law from Sheffield Hallam University, John-Paul applied for a master’s course in Broadcast Journalism. However, after starting a temporary job within the property sector he found that he enjoyed it so much that he remained in the industry.

He joined Opal Estates, working from the retail office. Here, he managed an extensive portfolio of major developments, catering for both Student and Professional living. Despite securing a promotion, John-Paul moved on to enjoy the opportunity and responsibility of being the Manager here at Penny Ashton. He now leads a team of 16 people where his role incorporates HR responsibilities, Advertising, Interviewing, and Strategic Development of the Company, Improving the Company Turnover, Making New Business Contacts.

John-Paul has overseen substantial growth in the turnover of the business following his arrival and his brief is to ensure Penny Ashton becomes the most successful letting agent in Manchester.

Maria Case BA (Hons) - New Tenancy Co-ordinator

After completing her Politics degree, Maria originally took up a temporary work experience position at Penny Ashton. Maria found that she enjoys working in the industry and thankfully she still remains with us!

She brings with her a strong customer service background and a good work ethic; and after recently taking her first steps on the property market she has a bright future ahead as a budding landlord herself.

Phil Gray BSc (Hons), MSc - Maintenance

Phil is the newest member to the team and has fitted in well since joining in December 2010, just in time for the Christmas party! With a Cognitive Science Degree and Masters in Business Management under his belt he's well equipped to deal with the minefield that is property maintenance. Phil has recently moved back to Manchester from Leeds and is working hard to save for a flat of his own in the city centre.

In his spare time, Phil is enjoying the benefits of the city's nightlife and as a keen sportsman; he enjoys playing football, tennis and golf in the summer months. Yes that’s right, Phil won’t play football in the rain!!!

Ann Mason - Accounts Administrator

Having joined in June 2007, Ann works part time as a member of the accounts team. Ann’s role has changed since starting and is now responsible for Tenancy Deposits refunds, and working closely with The Dispute Service to make sure that everyone is happy at the end of the tenancy.

In her spare time, Ann enjoys walking, running and keeping fit at the gym; she also likes a good read and going to the theatre.

Alastair McNair BSc (Hons), MARLA - Assistant Manager

NFOPP Technical Award in Residential Letting & Property Management

Alastair initially joined the company as a personal favour to the manager for a short six week period back in 2007 before going on a pre-planned trip around the world for 9 months.

He'd obviously developed a taste for the lettings industry and missed us all so much that on his return he rejoined the Penny Ashton team! Due to his hard work and professional knowledge he has recently been promoted to Assistant Manager; he continues to go from strength to strength and has himself recently just become a landlord.

Suzi Mottram - Admin Team Member

In 2005 Suzi joined the company where she was responsible for her own portfolio of designated properties dealing with general property management issues including rent collection, maintenance reports and property inspections. Due to the changes in the company she now concentrates on inspections and inventories, which gets her out of the office!

In her spare time Suzi is a member of a band called Bone-Box and regularly gigs around Manchester. Her band can be located on www.bone-box.com

Tom Neary MARLA - Lettings Negotiator

NFOPP Technical Award in Residential Letting & Property Management

After completing his A-Levels, Tom decided to pursue a career in property. Having previously worked as referencing manager he progressed from this to the 'New Business Department' and has now been promoted to Lettings Negotiator.

Tom's a keen tennis player but his real passion lies in football, which he both plays to a high standard and coaches. This has taken a back seat recently as he's just become a new dad!

Jane Sheil - Senior Accounts Team Member

Jane is a key member of the finance department at Penny Ashton. She maintains the company's financial reporting systems and external banking arrangements ensuring that they are consistent with the demands of the growth of the company. Jane has attended various courses on property lettings and accounts and continues to excel in her position.

Jane is a valued member of staff and has been with the company for 10 years this year; however, she doesn't look a day older than when she started!!

Jean Smith - Accounts

Jean is very much the heartbeat of the office and is now enjoying her semi retirement. Employed for one day a week, not just because of her astronomical wages but instead as a favour to Penny Ashton. Our longest standing member of staff, Jean was employed originally in a full time position back in 1991. She now oversees bank reconciliation and VAT issues as well as keeping the company up to date with new accounting initiatives.

Jean is a keen Tennis fan and each year we lose her to Wimbledon in favour of the strawberries and cream for 2 weeks!

Emma Stanley MARLA - New Business

NFOPP Technical Award in Residential Letting & Property Management

Emma Stanley joined PAPM Ltd in October 2006 as a result of continuing growth within the company. In October 2007 she was promoted to Team Leader of the New Business Department. Emma lists a broad range of properties to service all our clients needs and has now achieved her NAEA and ARLA professional qualifications.

Emma has just become a first time 'yummy mummy' so she's got her hands full and in her spare time she enjoys going to the gym and keeping fit.

Wendy Tickle - Accounts

NVQ in Accounting, Level 4

A long-standing member of the Accounts team Wendy holds an AAT Qualification as an Accounting Technician. Duties involve posting rents, dealing with bank reconciliation and general purchase ledger responsibilities.

In her spare time Wendy enjoys walking and swimming and looking after her new grand children!
