Services - Selective Licensing for Properties in Manchester
Manchester City Council has designated the following areas for selective licensing:
- Harpurhey and Lightbourne
- Bradford
- Gorton North and South
Any property within these areas that is occupied under a tenancy or a licence agreement must have a licence.
Please note that failure to obtain a license can lead to serious financial consequences for you as a Landlord because Manchester City Council could make an application for a Rent Payment Order against you. Also, as long as the house remains unlicensed, a Landlord cannot recover possession of the property by serving a Section 21 Notice.
In addition any person having control of or managing a house, which requires a licence but does not have one will be committing an offence and on conviction, may be liable for a fine of up to £20,000.00.
We have been granted the status of the most appropriate company to be the licence holder as the managing agent for the properties in the above areas and we can therefore apply for the licence on your behalf.
